“What makes a good leader?” The ongoing search for the answer to this question has made it increasingly clear that there are many different perspectives and that there is really no single answer. However, people do tend to look at this from an emotional perspective.

In the most common literature, leadership is described as getting people along to achieve the leader’s goals. In the years following the industrial revolution, this has become increasingly prevalent in business. The rise of larger companies and the increasing influence of employees in these companies has boosted thinking about leadership. In this Master Class, we will spend 4 days working with different theories around leadership. Here we look at the levels of leadership, different currents, analyze organizational challenges and translate them to own development needs and analyze motivational factors of employees.

About the training

The basis of this module is to break free from one’s own value concept and one’s own norms and values. Only then can the concept of leadership be looked at objectively to discern what the essence of leadership is. Then the question can be asked: What are general characteristics of leadership? What is situationally determined? Leadership is viewed from 4 different perspectives: from the leader himself, the team, the organization and business/society. We interpret this as a concentric model where we are subject at each level to the changes around us. In this module you will work on your own leadership in your current or future role. Your leadership qualities and opportunities for further development are explored and processed within the four-part context of leadership: yourself, the team, the organization and business/society. Leadership development starts with the individual. As a result, the Leadership Master Class has much common ground with the Master Classes ‘Self-Management, Leadership & Coaching’ and ‘Personal Leadership – Inner Balance in Focus’.

Assessment

The practice-oriented nature of the Master Class is characterized by assessment through the writing of a research paper. In addition, the teacher may request presentations and/or additional assignments. In order to conduct thorough research, a digital session on Research Methods & Techniques is part of the Master Class.

Certification

The Master Class is part of an NVAO-accredited Master. The program is concluded with a Master Class certificate and accompanying silver Edu badge including entry in the register.

Location

The Masterclass Leadership takes place in Vianen and in Arnhem. It is also possible to offer a Masterclass as an in-company training (as of 6 participants), if desired at the participants’ location. Please contact us for in-company programs.

Course times

Monday afternoon and Monday evening (11:00 am – 9:00 pm). In the morning, consultation meetings take place. Here you work out cases and assignments, prepare presentations and comment on each other’s work.

Duration and study load

The Leadership masterclass consists of 4 contact days. Including the lecture hours, you should count on an average study load of 10 hours per week.

Literature

Dutch and English literature is used for all modules. All classes are taught in Dutch.

Extension Masterclass

It is possible to follow a combination of different Masterclasses that have a logical connection with Leadership. Because the topic of leadership is related to so many business disciplines, there are some opportunities to expand this Masterclass.

Mini Master Leadership & Vitality

This program contains all the modules on leadership and personal leadership that NLBA has to offer. A total picture of the various aspects involved in the subject of leadership is created, which is supplemented with self-management. How do you manage your own vitality in the areas of sleep, stress, nutrition and exercise.

Multi Masterclass Leadership

A combination of the modules Self-Management, Leadership & Coaching and the module Leadership. Through this combination you will go deeper into the 4-axis and what someone’s drives and motivators have to do with leadership.

Post-HBO Strategic Leadership & Change

For those who really want to go in-depth on topics related to leadership, change management and strategy. This Post-HBO program is a one year program which can be extended with one year to a full accredited MBA.
