In the spotlight: Finance & Control

Every month we put the spotlight on one degree programme. In the month of August: everything you want to know about the programme… Master of Science Finance & Control!

About the programme

The objective of the Master of Science Finance & Control is twofold. On the one hand, deepening financial knowledge and, on the other, broadening in the field of business administration and strategy. The focus is on complicated and integrated issues at the higher levels of an organisation. The business focus enables you to translate and connect to the board and other members of a management team. With practical application through writing papers, you will put all the knowledge gained to immediate use within your organisation, a win-win for you and your
employer!

MSc / MFC title

Upon graduating from the master's programme, students are faced with a (difficult) choice: which title will you hold? Master of Finance and Control (MFC) or Master of Science Finance & Control (MSc). Both titles have their own value and it is therefore highly variable which one our graduates choose. The nice thing is though: by following a flow-through path consisting of 3 modules, you can also obtain that 2nd title. And for those who still have a 2nd title in business administration in mind, there is a wonderful one-year customized programme called MBA after MFC.

Collaboration

For several years, NIVE courses and NLBA have had a partnership for this Master. All HOFAM students are eligible for a shortened programme because the HOFAM gives exemptions for almost the entire first year of the programme. A Master title in 1.5 years, it can be done!

What do students say about this programme?

Tony Malhoe student Master Finance & Control year 2021:  ‘A year after completing my HOFAM programme, I wanted to study further. Through NLBA, it is possible to take the MFC in an abbreviated format, this is the ideal solution for me. Examination is mainly through papers, so I can immediately apply my acquired knowledge to my business. Because we work with consultation groups during the programme, I still feel like I am following this programme together with a group. In this group, you can compare yourself to the rest of the group, which makes the study more fun and educational.’
